When we first moved into our new house, the first thing on my mind was the floorboards!!! Some of you out there might be thinking what the hell?! But if you plan to style your home in that Scandy/ Dutchy style, then your floorboards are pretty much the focal point!
I was in a pickle however, they were not great! Sure they maybe could have been sanded, waxed etc, but in some places there were weird combinations of wood, not just nice long strips. There were nails sticking up, pieces missing, and it really was just too much work.
So we hit the shops to see what we could find. All the larger retail stores want to offer currently is pre fabricated wooden floors. yes they look ok, and are probably easier kept than soft floorboards, but they just did not look right, and they were pretty overpriced!
Then we came across a little place called Plankenland in Zwolle. They could not only supply us with well priced floorboards, for that oldy worldy feel, but could stain them to whatever colour we wanted, in our case whitewashed.
I could not recommend them enough. If you want them in your home, and are prepared for them to get the odd dent and scratch (it is part of their old appeal!) then this is the place to go. They can be sanded down and restained if you have any major spills or damages, and we really do love them.
